A place of healing for mind, body, and spirit
Samaritan Counseling Center has always been a place of healing for mind, body, and spirit, embracing the power of spirituality to assist in achieving and maintaining wholeness. We honor all faiths as well as those with no religious inclinations at all. We also affirm those of different sexual orientation and/or gender. In short, no matter where you are in life, what you believe in, or what has brought you to us, you can be certain that when you come here you’re in a safe, supportive, judgment-free place.
They Just Showed Up
Hope, help and healing are 3 words that embody the journey one takes when faced with a physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual crisis. If you are struggling with a mental, emotional, or spiritual challenge, Samaritan Counseling Center can help. Our professional, compassionate team of clinicians specializes in a broad range of issues and uses positive, evidence based approaches to each situation.
Psychoherapy is a collaboration between the clinician and the client and employs a variety of techniques, treatments, and skills. You may learn how mindfulness calms the nervous system and reprograms the brain. You may discover that EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) alleviates Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). There are powerful, proven cognitive and dialectical behavioral techniques that address the root causes of depression and anxiety. Recovery from bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and many other mental, emotional and biochemical health challenges is well within reach.
All clinicians are licensed by the state of Illinois and certified by professional organizations. They possess the skills and knowledge to help individuals, couples, families and groups pursue healthy changes as they work towards health, happiness, and wholeness. Our Center is fully accredited by the Solihten Institute, part of a consortium of 81 counseling centers with 430 locations around the country. To learn more about the history and mission of Samaritan counseling centers, click here: Samaritan Institute. We have 1 psychiatrist, 4 clinical psychologists, 8 clinical social workers, and 2 clinical professional counselors. There are ordained clergy on staff as well. All of them have years of experience and provide a compassionate, client-centered approach to therapy. You can read more about our team at Our People.
If you’re in the midst of a difficult relationship with your spouse, partner, relative or best friend, we will work with you to establish healthy boundaries, productive communication skills, and rewarding relationships. If you’re being bullied at work, you’ll learn effective techniques to deal with an aggressive or demeaning boss or coworker.
If you are grieving, or feeling alone and isolated, having someone to talk to while journeying through a time of loneliness helps. When deep connections with the soul/psyche are made, hopefulness and healing can rise like a phoenix from the ashes of despair.
