Dr. Lora Wiens, Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), treats adults, adolescents, and some children. As Samaritan’s Founding Clinician, she specializes in relationship issues, divorce, anxiety, mood disorders, suicide prevention, PTSD, Dissociative Disorders (DID), and LGBTQ+ issues. Her approach is holistic, focusing on the importance of healing the mind, body, and spirit, drawing upon her training in psychology, philosophy, and theology; in addition to her psychological training, Lora holds an MA in Philosophy. She is informed by Attachment Theory, meaning that she believes that early disruptions in our relationships can negatively impact our ability to form relationships and manage our emotions as adults. Among other treatment modalities, she frequently uses DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), which was designed to give people practical ways to manage intense emotions, negotiate difficult relationships, and stop addictive behaviors (e.g. self-injury, eating disorders, and substance abuse).
